Soil Remediation Technology

Soil Remediation Technology

ecoĀINA is a sustainable soil washing process to extract and eliminate PFAS, PCBs, dioxins, and other persistent toxins from contaminated soil and dewatered sediment.

Āina (noun): means ‘land’ in Hawaiian. This meaning is expanded to connect to the land on all levels: spiritual, social, and scientific.

Meets EPA Requirements

The proprietary ecoAINA system meets in accordance with US EPA requirements for soil washing in accordance with provisions under 40 CFR 761.61 (a)(5)(i)(A) under a self-implementing cleanup program.
It could also be used as part of a risk-based cleanup approval issued to a specific site owner under 761.61 (c).

5

Cost-Effective

ecoĀINA treats contaminated soil onsite, eliminating the high cost of digging-and-hauling to a landfill or incinerator.

6

Restoration

After confirmation sampling is completed, the clean soil is placed back into the ground where it belongs.

How the ecoĀINA Works

ecoĀINA is an ex-situ soil washing remediation technology to treat PFAS, PCBs, dioxins, and other persistent toxins from contaminated soil or dewatered sediment. ecoĀINA meets all EPA requirements.

Through our mobile & scalable design, ecoĀINA is able to treat sites ranging from small pilots up to large, full-scale remediation sites all across the globe.

Once the remedial levels are reached and confirmed through third-party analysis, the soil can then be placed back into the ground or repurposed for beneficial reuse – saving additional money by eliminating the need for backfill.

Elimination of Long-Term Liability

Responsible parties carry liabilities under the cradle-to-grave provision of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. ecoĀINA provides a true endpoint to environmental liability (and legal fees).

Elimination of Long-Term O&M Costs

Full-scale treatment eliminates the need to construct a cap or contaminant isolating system. ecoĀINA can reduce or eliminate long-term costs of operations and maintenance for an on-site containment system.
