Central Florida-based Start-up Recognized for its Cleantech Environmental Technology
ecoSPEARS has been named a finalist in the Energy & Sustainability Category for the 2020 Edison Awards. Named for the famous inventor of the same name, The Edison Awards recognizes and honors the world’s best innovations and innovators. The Edison Awards will announce the gold, silver, and bronze winners in each award category throughout March and April 2020.
“We are extremely honored to win this prestigious award,” said ecoSPEARS’ Executive Vice-President and co-founder Ian Doromal. “Our namesake SPEARS technology offers a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to permanently remove toxins like PCBs and dioxins from contaminated sediment. Removing these toxins from sediments using traditional methods has proved unsustainable for decades,” Doromal continued, “our company and our NASA-developed technology aims to change that, so we can remove these toxins from our waterways forever to remain protective of human health and the environment.”
All nominations to the Edison Awards are reviewed by the Awards’ Steering Committee with the final ballot being sent to an independent judging panel. This panel is comprised of more than 3,000 professionals from the fields of product development, design, engineering, science, marketing, and education, including professional organizations representing a wide variety of industries and disciplines.
